TAST 148: Whipped Double Chain Stitch

TAST stands for Take A Stitch Tuesday which is an online course of stitches on Sharon Boggon's Pintangle. Join in and learn. If you want to do it from scratch, there will be a rerun starting next year.
Read more about it here.
Learn it here.

As I have explained before, I want all the TAST stitches in one (private) collection and will give them the chronological number in the order I learn them.
So now it is time for Whipped Double Chain Stitch,  which I will call TAST #148.

I really like how this looks using two colors!

It makes a lovely "braid" effect, doesn't it!

Two-coloured stitches are so flexible, and when you use two different threads, e.g a plain base and a fancy metallic for the lacing/whipping, then you have endless possibilities to vary the look.

Yes, it does! Mix threads and get a wonderful variety of 'braids'!

Double whipped chain is a beautiful stitch. It shines in any combination of colors.
Good work Queenie.

It adds a lot of structure, too.

Nice effect. I guess putting the chains farther apart, could make a lacy look.

Yes, I think you are right.

Same stitch, different threads and 4 different, wonderful, results.

There are so many possibilities, you can change the spacing, the types of thread, the thickness of the threads, the colours.... I guess on a cq piece you would use the same stitch in so many ways you would never understand it is the same stitch.

At first glance the top one looks like a different stitch - I like it.

it's all in the spacing!
